Before and after

Final days of photos

Drain work involves axing out the old roof around the upper roof drains, replacing parts.  New bowls are fastened in, then flashed with about a pail of elastic roofing sealer and mesh.  Ring and dome are installed.

Blister repairs on flat roof

To the right, the crew has emptied the winter-grade version of the elastic sealer.

Blister repair is performed before the "runs" of mesh are applied.  With the removal of the old delaminated roofing, elastic roofing sealer is squeegeed over the area.  Then the area is reinforced with #15 fiberglass felt.  Blistered area is ready for the application of the base of the work

Flat roof base work

Base work:

1. Squeegee elastic roofing sealer over blister repaired area

2. Roll mesh in a straight line, overlapping seams three inches

3. Brush mesh to embed into elastic roofing sealer

At this point, the project is ready for the application of acrylic in the seaming to bond the mesh.

At this point, the work "looks like hell" to quote the customer, but the hardest part of the project is completed according to the crew.

Acrylic seaming of base work

The next five photos illustrate the seaming:  Acrylic is brushed down under the mesh, then the top mesh is smoothed into the lower lap with acrylic.  Fishmouths are forbidden.

First white acrylic application

The first top coat of white acrylic is the "white" tint from Andek Corporation. Already the seams have two layers of the acrylic.  One of the crew members blows debris from nearby trees from the surface before coating.  Usually the application of the acrylic starts on the flashings and other detail work.

Final acrylic coating

Upper roof and front roofs were completed with the second coat. Parapets and flashing on lower roof were also done, but concern about weather stopped work

Acrylic photos of both coats are located at beginning of page.
